Thank you so much for your prayers and partnership over the past year! Lori and I have been so blessed by your love and support. We have seen God continue to open doors and bring opportunities to spread His Glory. In January, Doug started a daily radio broadcast called SWAT radio that spawned out of the SWAT Bible studies. SWAT stands for Spiritual Warriors Advancing Truth. He and Brad Sykes discuss the weekly Bible study material and how to apply those principles practically in our everyday life. They also have guest each week that share their ministry and encouragement for men to “follow Jesus”!
It has been a great platform for ministering to people through the airwaves and internet. You can download the SWAT radio app by going to the app store or google-play store. You can also follow us on facebook, twitter, and instagram at @swatradiotalk. In 2018, we are planning to launch a SWAT youtube channel, so we ask for your continued prayer as God continues to grow this outreach to spread HISLIGHT!
In March, Doug had the opportunity to speak to over 1,000 Nepali and Bhutanese leaders at the Global Nepali Speaking Christian Conference in Southeast Asia. He, John Monger, Dawa Singye and several others encouraged the leaders in the task of being faithful ambassadors of our King throughout the world. John and Dawa are both persecuted pastors, so it was very humbling to share in this important ministry opportunity with them. Dawa leads the LTTI in Southeast Asia that we partner with to train pastors/church planters, and missionaries to send to the hard to reach places in that part of the world. Please pray for these men and the leaders that are so passionate about fulfilling Christ’s last command to “Go make disciples”!!
The SWAT Bible studies continue to grow and it has been very encouraging to watch God raise up men who will follow Christ in “making disciples”! This year, we added another group and we also started a one-on-one discipleship study within SWAT that 70 men are taking part in. The format of the SWAT Bible studies each week is to gather together around food, fellowship, and the exposition of God’s Word as “battle buddies” as a community of men who want to “be like Jesus”! The one-on-one study is two men meeting regularly working through the “Every Man a Warrior” study guide together and growing in relationship, accountability, spiritual disciplines, a desire to make disciples, and a deep desire to know, love, and “be like Jesus”! The SWAT guys are deeply invested in the kingdom work that is going on in Southeast Asia and many have traveled with Doug to build a training center, teach, and help encourage our brothers and sisters in that part of the world. Please pray that God would continue to raise up men who will make Christ last command our first priority!!
Doug also had the opportunity to minister in Houston after Hurricane Harvey and in Jacksonville after Hurricane Irma. In Houston, he worked with the Billy Graham Rapid Response team to minister at the shelters downtown and conducted trauma and disaster ministry training at churches. It has been a great opportunity for the church to rise up and be the hands and feet of Jesus. Please continue to pray for the people in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Puerto Rico and all affected by the storms.
As you read this, Lori and I are preparing to lead a group of 37 to “walk where Jesus walked”! We leave this Friday and are excited once again to be going to the land where our savior walked and taught. Please pray for us and for our children while we are away!
God continues to blow us away with opportunities to spread His Glory and we couldn’t do it without you! We hope you have a great Thanksgiving and thanks for helping to spread Hislight throughout the world!
