Now to HIM who is able…

Last week, we made travel reservations for me, Lori, Kate, and Ellie to leave for China on Sept 8th and bring home our new daughter, Rachel. That’s right! We’re adopting again.  If you know my wife, then you are not surprised!! Rachel is a seven year old Chinese girl that has a severe heart defect and is in desperate need of surgery to correct the problem.

You can read more about Rachel at Lori’s blog by clicking here !  Last friday, we were expecting a large donation to cover the remaining balance needed to travel this week.  We needed to have the money in our account no later than Wednesday, Sept. 7th to travel by Thursday, Sept. 8th.  On friday, (my 50th birthday, oohrah!), we received a telephone call that the large donation would not be coming.  I looked at Lori and said God will provide what we need, when we need it.  It was easier said than lived out.  Over the weekend, we would waver back and forth.  Usually, when one of us was doubting the other was encouraging and vice versa.  The problem was, we are living through one of the worst economic times in our lifetime…in addition to it being the labor day weekend!  We asked the Lord to provide for us and show us how to respond. We believe that God directed us to several people that He wanted to share in the joy and blessing of bringing Rachel home and helping her heart to heal.  Also, our Father moved in the heart of other special people from our church to become advocates for Rachel and encourage others to be a part of bringing her home.  What happened yesterday was nothing short of miraculous. He brought in every penny we needed to be able to travel in less than 12 hours.  Lori and I were both moved to tears several times throughout the day. The thing that made all of it so encouraging to us was that every giver gave cheerfully and excitedly!  We’ve had so many people help throughout the whole process.  Thank you all and please continue to pray for us as we leave tomorrow for the long flight to Shanghai.  You can follow our journey on Lori’s blog by clicking on Rachel’s journey.  If you become a follower, you will get an email when there is a change to the blog.

Join us in praying for Rachel’s healing and praising the One who is able!!

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us.                                          Eph. 3:20

Thanks for your prayers and support!  Be a Light!
